Community Affairs

Our plan is to ensure that our project provides maximum benefit to the host communities. A thorough understanding of the community, as well as its needs and desires are a critical first step. An understanding of these needs will come from a study of preliminary findings and continued communication with all representatives. For example, local employment opportunities and increased education have been identified as a prime concern in interview with members of the community.

Community Disturbances

As quickly as possible Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited relation officer and the project engineer should be informed of the situation by the site safety officer/foreman.

The Community Relations Officer (CRO) shall proceed immediately to the location to determine to the grievance of the community.

If the issue is within his authority to resolve the CRO shall contact Client project engineer and Client CLO and inform them of the development.

If CLO and Client CLO are able to resolve the issue, normal operations
resume otherwise the procedure for managing community disturbances should be followed.

Summarily, Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited aims at minimizing/eliminating the number of community related incidents, which may result in operation shutdown and support all Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited initiatives to improve relationship with host communities.

Safety

Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited aims at preventing incidents and situations, which have the potential to cause injury to personnel and damage to equipment.

Health

Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited will make effort to identify and eliminate occupational health risks and protect staff from health hazards associated with our operations.

Environment

Communities are becoming sensitive to companies’ environmental degradation. As a result, we must increase staff awareness of environmental protection and implement techniques and procedures for disposal and waste management.

Soko Engineering Services Nigeria Limited intends to progressively reduce pollution and harm to the environment.

Security

With-trained security guards will be employed to enforce security. This will enable us minimize the number of security related incidents for all staff engaged in our operations.
